Born in Massachusetts, Philip was exposed to entrepreneurship at a young age as his grandparents were the owners of a famous restaurant in Boston. This early exposure had a profound influence on Philip, namely his love for cooking and his decision to work with impassioned business owners.

Starting off his tertiary education as a pre-law student at George Washington University, Philip quickly came to realise that a career in law was not for him. This prompted him to enrol at the University of New Hampshire, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Majoring in Accounting, then going on to complete his Masters of Science in Accounting.

As an undergraduate, Philip decided to apply his knowledge and education in the real world, working part-time as an auditor for a small accounting firm. After a good 12 months, he decided to take his skills and experience over to New York where he would work within PwC’s hedge fund practice. Beginning his role at PwC in September of 2008, Philip was among the many millions affected by the Global Financial Crisis, prompting him to return to D.C. and seek contracting positions.

In his first year as a contractor, Philip was hired by Sunrise Senior Living as a Senior Analyst. In the aftermath of the 2008 GFC, Philip’s role in Sunrise saw him cleaning up nearly 5 years worth of compliance and audits that had been forgotten in the wake of the crash.

At the completion of his first contract, Philip made the decision to stay in D.C., working for Madison Marquette, a Real Estate Investment Trust, dealing with large commercial properties, such as shopping malls. During his 4 years at Madison, Philip was provided with a wealth of opportunities to not only learn the intricacies of Real Estate and the property market, but also developing a greater appreciation for the importance of a capable accountant within any organization.

Following this, Phillip moved on to work for E*TRADE, a financial services firm, as their Lead Accountant and was instrumental in aiding the company with the onboarding and adoption of modern accounting technology, succeeding in his goal of maximizing efficiency whilst automating a lot of the firm’s administrative responsibilities.

Wanting to challenge himself, Philip left E*TRADE after 3 years, and moved to Berlin, Germany with his husband, where he begun managing an international team of accountants.

Whether it be helping business owners navigate the aftermath of an economic crisis, or restructuring an organization’s accounting function, it is clear that Philip is never one to back down from a challenge – especially when he believes it is in the best interest of his clients. Phil’s attention to detail and endless curiosity allows him to thrive in every challenge he takes on.

Now a member of Accodex Partners, Philip intends to use the skills he has attained throughout his career so far to help his clients succeed in a technology dependent business world.
