In Knoxville, John joins a local firm, Coulter & Justus, to expand on his initial experiences. At the firm, John quickly started leading audits and providing accounting services to many industries ranging from non-profit & governmental organizations, retail businesses, insurance carriers, manufacturing & constructional companies, all the way to huge multi-national coal companies.
After many years in public accounting with both EY and Coulter & Justus and nearing the age of 30 John decided to leave public accounting to pursue a personal passion. John had always wanted to use his knowledge and skills gained from his years of experience to help organizations have an impact on communities that was more than just profits. To do this John joined on with a multi-state non-profit, Random Acts of Flowers, as their National Director of Finance & Administration. This position allowed John to help the organization increase their impact through the use of technology and improved accounting and reporting processes.
Through his varied experiences of helping small businesses, a nonprofit organization, and social enterprises John has realized that a little guidance and innovative thinking can go a long way. To further pursue his passion for helping others John joined Accodex in 2016 as an Accounting Partner to provide accounting advisory and support services to these types of organization. John and his team at Accodex help organizations leverage technology to make accounting less of a burden (and even a little bit fun!), allowing them to focus more time on growth and having a greater impact.
